Description
Image description: Three chairs arranged in a half circle with books sitting on the chair seat.
“Florida” means “full of flowers,” as the first Europeans found a lush, strong, stable land. But we now know that our home has been degraded with natural land and species lost, groundwater falling, pollution, and climate change. The fight to save Florida from ourselves did not begin recently, but reaches back to the early 20th century, when brave and gifted women, while battling for their own place in society, rose to defend our state. Join us as we learn the origins of how we enjoy Florida, and discover how we can carry on their fight.
We will be reading the following book:
Saving Florida: Women’s Fight for the Environment in the Twentieth Century
By: Leslie Kemp Poole
